Even before the bout took place, multiple sources indicated that the loser of the Dan Henderson-Fedor Emelianenko bout would be without a fight home due to their large contracts, and today White made it official.
Emelianenko went 1-3 in the promotion defeating Brett Rogers before three straight stoppage losses to Fabricio Werdum, Antonio Silva, and Dan Henderson respectively.
“I said he was overrated for years,” said White at a post-press conference interview earlier today.
Emelianenko built his name in the famous Japanese RINGS and PRIDE promotions, amassing a nine year winning streak and defeating everyone in his way, most famously Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (3x) and Mirko ‘Cro-Cop’ Filipovic.
After the death of PRIDE, Emelianenko brought his skills stateside. In Afflicton “The Last Emporer” defeated highly ranked contenders Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski, both in under a round.
Where Emelianenko goes from here is still up in the air. When MMAJunkie.com caught up with Evgeni Kogan, manager of Emelianenko, he suggested that Fedor could fight in M-1 which he owns a partial stake in.
No question Japanese promotions such as DREAM would love to have Emelianenko on upcoming cards, potentially against their heavyweight champion and recent Zuffa cast-off Alistair Overeem.
